Solar-Panel Wet Testing

Solar panels in larger arrays — such as on homes and businesses — usually operate at voltages in excess of 48vdc. This means that they are not classified as 'intrinsically safe'. Metal frames and the presence of rain and show can result in a serious hazard if the insulation is compromised.

Solar-Panel Wet Testing

Individual solar panels in larger arrays — such as on homes and businesses — can generate 90 volts DC or more. This voltage level exceeds 48vdc, meaning that they are not classified as 'intrinsically safe'. Given the presence of metal frames and the fact that they are exposed to rain and snow, they can present a serious hazard if the insulation is compromised.
